Outreach
Over the years, I have actively organized and engaged in science outreach activities as much as my work and family obligations have allowed me to. These are some of them.
CERFA
A great deal of outreach has happened via CERFA e.V., the Society of Spanish Scientists in Germany (I was CERFA president from 2021 to 2024). In Berlin in particular, together with other highly motivated scientists, in 2015 we created the BundeSciencia Science Cafés (more on these below).
Beyond BundeSciencia, I co-organized other Berlin-based CERFA events, which you can find in CERFA’s event page (or in eventbrite or Facebook), ranging from Science Workshops For Children to International Science Diplomacy Workshops. In particular during COVID, I also co-organized workshops with experts on mental-health, specifically for scientists abroad during the pandemic.
🎧 Podcast
For a brief while I had a science and literature podcast, Palabra De Mol, with a cohost (and friend!). Every week or so we would explain a science and literature concept to each other. We had to stop doing it, but you can still listen to the episodes (in Spanish).
Moderator
The continuous outreach activities have resulted in invitations to moderate scientific dialogues or interviews for the broader public, for example:
- 10 Years of Innovation: Interview with Belén Garijo, CEO Merck AG (Sept 2023)
- Town-Hall Dialogue with Yolanda Díaz, Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Spain and Minister of Labour and Social Economy (March 2022)
- Scientific Dialogue with Prof. Dr. Ignacio Cirac director of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching (June 2021). YouTube video.
- Scientific Dialogue with Pedro Duque, former (2020-2021) Minister for Science and Innovation in Spain, aeronautical engineer, and astronaut (Dec. 2021)
