My current position in Prof. Volkamer’s Lab, Data Driven Drug Design, grows directly out of two long-running projects at Charité Universitäsmedizin Berlin, in the Institute of Physiology and the Institute of Medical Physics and Biophysics, working with two different visiting fellows on two different subjects:
-
Kinase Modelling - Einstein BIH Visiting Fellow John Chodera:
Hosted at the Institute of Physiology at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, at the In-Silico Toxicology and Structural Bioinformatics Group led by Prof. Andrea Volkamer, now based at Saarland University.
-
GPCR Complexes in Motion - Einstein BIH Visiting Fellow Brian Kobilka:
Hosted at the Institute for Medical Physics and Biophysics at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, originally at the Hildebrand Lab (now at Universität Leipzig) and then at the Structural Biology of Cellular Signaling (Scheerer Lab).
In parallel, I am also a guest scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin Dahlem, in the research group of Dr. Dr. Matthew Kraushar: Neurodevelopment and translation control.
There, while embedded in a highly experimental setting, I computationally study ribosomal proteins and the evolutionary pressures shaping certain aspects of their structural biology.
